We are not a shop. We are a private archive — a small house of specialists who acquire, authenticate, and place the world’s most coveted handbags for a circle of collectors who understand that true luxury is not purchased new. It is recovered.
Who We Are
Custodians of a quiet inheritance.
The Archive of Iconography was founded on a single conviction: that a handbag is not an accessory, but an artifact. A Birkin is a sculpture in leather. A Flap is a piece of social history. A Speedy is a portrait of a city in motion. We treat each object the way a museum treats a masterwork — with study, with patience, and with the understanding that we hold it only briefly before it passes to the next keeper.
We are a small house. Our specialists have spent their lives inside the maisons, inside auction rooms, inside the ateliers where these objects were born. We do not hold inventory for its own sake. We acquire what we believe in, certify what we can prove, and release it only to a keeper we trust to preserve it.
Why Vintage
An object with a past is worth more than one without.
A new handbag is a product. It leaves a factory, enters a boutique, and begins to lose value the moment it is carried. A vintage handbag is the opposite — it has already survived decades of use, travel, and judgement, and it has gained value with every year it endured.
Patina is not wear. It is evidence. The softening of a handle, the warm glow of hardware polished by a human hand, the blind stamp that dates a piece to a closed atelier — these are the marks of a life lived. A new object has none of this. It is blank.
We choose vintage because it is honest. The leather has told the truth about how it was treated. The provenance can be traced. The value has been tested by time, not by a marketing campaign. And because the rarest references — the discontinued leathers, the closed ateliers, the heritage models — exist only in the pre-owned world. They cannot be ordered. They can only be found.
Acquisition
Sourced where the world disperses its rarest objects.
We do not buy from wholesalers or middlemen. Every artifact in the vault is acquired directly from the source — traced to its origin, examined in person, and entered into our register only when its history is accounted for.
Auction Houses
Sotheby’s, Christie’s, Bonhams, and the great continental salerooms. We are present in the room — on the floor, on the telephone, bidding against private collectors and trade buyers for the references that surface only once in a generation.
Private Estates
Inherited collections, retired wardrobes, the quiet dispersal of a life’s accumulation. These are the objects that never reach the public market — acquired through discretion, through reputation, through trust built over years.

A vetted circle of established dealers and specialists with whom we have worked for years. Every source is known to us, every object accompanied by its history.
London & Beyond
Between London and the capitals of craft.
Our house operates between London and Paris. London is our commercial heart — the room where acquisitions are negotiated, where collectors are met, where the world’s auction calendar is watched. Paris is our heritage — the city where most of these objects were made, where the ateliers still stand, where the language of the maison was written.
From these two points we source globally: the salerooms of Geneva and Hong Kong, the estate sales of New York and Tokyo, the private collections of Monaco and Milan. The objects travel to us; we never ask a client to trust an image alone. Every piece is examined in person before it is certified and before it is offered.
The Selection
What enters the vault is chosen, not stocked.
We refuse more than we accept. An object enters the archive only when it satisfies four conditions, without exception:
Provenance
The object’s history must be traceable — to a maison, a date, and where possible, the hands that made it. Without provenance, there is no artifact. There is only merchandise.
Condition
Patina is welcomed; damage is not. We accept the honest marks of a life lived, but we refuse structural compromise, replacement hardware, or anything that breaks the object’s integrity.
Investment Grade
Each piece is appraised as a tangible asset. It must carry references with documented appreciation — heritage models, limited editions, discontinued leathers. We do not acquire what does not hold its value.
Authenticity
No object leaves the vault without passing through Veracity Lab — a multi-layer forensic review by certified authenticators and proprietary AI. The human panel and the AI must agree. Only then is a certificate issued.
