The bag Christian Dior's house built twice: once as the New Look in 1947, once as the Lady Dior in 1995, when a quilted lambskin bag was offered to Princess Diana and carried so often that it took her name. This is the medium, the proportion the house has kept closest to the original — upright, architectural, its diamond cannage topstitched by hand and drawn from the woven cane chairs of the salon at 30 Avenue Montaigne. Four pale gold letters hang from the handles: D, I, O, R, a superstition made hardware. Holds a wallet, a phone, a card holder and sunglasses; carried by hand or worn crossbody on its thin removable strap. Interior stamped, date-coded and photographed exactly as it arrived.
